Ten Ways to Pack Away Holiday Decor Without the Mess

Coil the lights, divide the ornaments and label both sides: packing tricks that save next December's weekend.

Holiday decor survives January only if it is packed with care. Coil string lights around cardboard, wrap ornaments in tissue inside divided boxes, and photograph each styled shelf before you dismantle it.

Label every box on two sides with painter's tape: room, contents, and the year. Store wreaths flat in garment bags and keep gift wrap standing upright in a tall bin so nothing creases.

Next December you will unpack in an afternoon instead of a weekend, and every fragile favorite will still be intact.
